so yeah, just in case you needed it driven home more, everybody's dead. brother? dead. mom? dead. dad? dead. little brother? dead. all gone.
If your wondering why their hands and arms are particularly bloody it's defensive wounds. Even though the rest of the family weren't trained fighters like Drake, they're still dragons and could put up a decent fight, just not good enough.
I can't decide if dragons cry or not (aren't their tears supposed to turn into diamonds...or jelly beans(quick, name that song!)?), so no tears for Drake. He's still somewhat numb.
re sarall: yes he did. You can see it clearer on this page than the last one, but see that big old gash down his chest? His heart's gone.
re LuluMoon: me too, I started having problems finishing the pages actually. I liked Lucian and Parvus.
re Onasaki: aging for solifidians is a bit weird, because most of them are immortal, so it's hard to get a human equivalent for their age. Controlling subtleties like gradual aging is hard to consciously control. Often what happens is that their human age will start mimicking their mental age. This means that they can appear much younger than they actually are. in rare cases they'll even stagnate in a child form if they don't mentally mature.
re Azhtann: I was tempted to give him some last words, but it doesn't work with the time line. The attack happened several hours ago, and that would be a hell of a long time to hang on.
re Rae: he's pretty lost right now. For his whole life he's been taught that his duty is to protect his brother. With his brother gone that whole structure collapses.
re MADtiger: indeed he is.
re fallingfeather: well, I guess pannel 4 answers your first question, as for the second: only the second born are trained to be warriors. They don't want to train all the younger kids to be fighters because if they get competitive amongst themselves that could cause some real trouble. Third and younger kids like Parvus live with the family until they are mature, then they move out to an area on the border of the family lands to live. They're not seen as as much of a threat to the first born because age brings power among dragons and to take over they would have to fight two older dragons (the oldest and their drake) if they're powerful enough to overcome that maybe they do deserve to take over. The family does need too keep a possible heir waiting on the sidelines too in case anything happens to the eldest, because drakes are too brainwashed into a subservient position to take control.
re Mr.Blackbird: me too, although I have to admit that I might not feel the same way if i were a rancher whose cattle kept getting nabbed.
re Tenshi Yami no Neko: and this whole trauma thing probably contributed to his current state of jerkyness.
slightly off topic to the sad page-
"...he began to cry dragon tears, which, as we all know, turn into jelly beans!"
Albi the Racist Dragon by Flight of the Conchords. that's the song you're thinking of
Ah.. Alright. So their human form could remain a child for technicly as long as possible, considering their personality. Imagine what a kick in the ass that would be, if you're "teenaged" but still act like a little kid. But think you're mature enough for certain things. Then comes the meeting of the dragons, and you go human form to find out you still look like 5 year old. XD Or something along those lines.
I think it would have been cool if you illustrated his tears turning into diamonds... or jelly beans.
Just not the black ones. Don't eat the black jelly beans. They taste disgusting. It's just my opinion, but it's true.
