Meet the Order of the Red Cross, also know as the Red Cross Kights, named after the original Red Cross Knight, St George (the knights templar also used a red cross, but I think that was partialy due to Georgie who was all patron-saint of englandy and such, but what with the Da Vinci Code and all of its crack-tastic history I prefer to downplay that connection). Drake basicaly's got the jist of them. They're an order of knights independent of any specific ruler and focused on hunting down solifidians. they really can only manage to catch the dinky ones, but those are the ones that tend to be in human territory. They've also become deeply involved in politics.
The two in from are officers, drawn from the younger sons of noble families (chain mail is more expensive) while the two in the back are basic soldiers drawn from the middle class (even the rank and file of the order still wield a great deal of power). The officer closest to us is the captain of the city garrison, while the other is his second-in command. These two also happen to be brothers, Teucer and Aias, named after my favorite fellows in the Iliad (Teucer is a completely minor character, probably mentioned only four or so times, but I love him nevertheless and his big bro is probably better know to you as Ajax, the more common spelling of his name). They bicker a lot, their subordinates seem mildly amused by it (btw, they need names, help).
Teddy pipes again finally. gypsies tended to keep a close eye on politics since the last thing they need is extra scapegoating in harsh times, and the Order isn't too nice to them to begin with. Drake measures his life-span in centuries, so its a bit hard for him to keep track of humans change, plus he doesn't really care all that much. Joan had actually briefly mentioned the war of succession when chatting with Teddy about her folks two chapters back, it changes up trade roots and forced them to move their business, but, being stuck in a dinky little backwater town she doesn't know much more than that.
re kreestuh: thank, It's also a lot more enjoyable to make the backgrounds grey with random scriblings than doing an actual background ^_^
re BellaMai: all part of being a dragon.
re comic king: just the way the pannels fall, although these less frequent updates do make it much worse.
re amiko_16: it's shiney, he can't help it. It's a dragon thing, plus he realy likes beating up on the nobility.
re Angelzora: the sunglasses really amped up his little emo poet look.
re Zheyna: at that point I hadn't decided whether Aspis was the king or another official like the general, I finally settled on king (aspis=shield in Greek, appropriate for a military-based ruler)
re Tenshi Yami no Neko: yup.
re tRickityHouses: I knew I had to put up something stupid and crude, it was that or a "yo mamma"
re LToEV: thanks ^_^
re Onasaki: what's graffiti without a little pointless bashing of the man?
re monster: I was a little conflicted when switching to full color because it lost the limiter-color effect, but it just feels more finished I guess. I will be keeping the colors muted, even when in full light though.
re axielouise: egads, the background scenery speaks! Teddy, don't scare us like that.
re Imola: what can he say? Dragons like the shiny.
re Lusewing: unfortunately his tendency to completely steamroll her points might be bad here since she is making a good point.
Ah yes. The introduction of Teucer.
Nice armor designs, btw. You know, since Drake and Teddy and everyone else gets spiffy cloths, I think Joan should get some sort of accessory. Or you know, a vest that's not tattered at least.
Hehe, I liked Aias too, but I can' t for the life of anything precious- (well, like the life of my degus, but since we' re killing the poor things so very quickly it wouldn' t be such a great difference...) - remember a name that resembles Teucer in Hungarian...
Anyway, there was a guy other than Odysseus who had brains, I recommend him as a name. :D And the second maybe... Astyanax? That means "ruler of the city".
I' m not toooooo sure about the spelling though... XD
Drake shouldn' t be complaining so much. So many knights to loot...
Continuing on the Iliad theme, how's Glaucus sound? I've always liked that name. xP (There are many Greek chars of that name, not just in the Iliad, though. o-o I guess it must have been a common name back when they made myths.) The Iliad Glaucus was killed by Ajax though. 8D;; *freaky*
Anyways... lulz, vampires and half-breeds? *eyes Teddy and Joan(who might be thought of as a half-breed, even if she isn't)*
I AM STILL ALIVE
Yes i'm still here and just checked the last 6 pages i missed and i've learned so much in 6 pages. And again I still can say drake is just like me. Nothing like pilfering a couple of rings to get by guards. Fighting gets boring sometimes ya know.
