Poor Joan, all alone in the hall with some cranky vampires.
And a new vampire makes an appearance. While Mina and to a lesser degree Archie try to avoid the vampire story types, some embrace the tropes. Carmine fully embraces the feme fatal type (I was trying to decide between just calling her Carmilla and a color name like Scarlet. I felt like Carmine was a good middle ground.) She's meant to be rather va-va-voom, but I haven't had much practice drawing those type of characters, so I feel she came out rather modest my comic standards. Oh well.
Some general notes on vampires since there will be more appearing: Because of the undead/liquid diet thing, most of them have some degree of pronounced bone structure in the face and dark smudges in the cheeks and around the eye. Because of this (and their relative affluence) they are more likely to wear makeup. Skin is pale grey with little variety, even in people who were darker skinned in life (Theodore is Romani and Mina is of Japanese descent, but they're only slightly darker than Archie or Carmine). In their clothing choices, they always have some sort of neck covering, bot to cover up their bite scars and as a comfort thing. They're very twitchy about their necks. They also tend to change their names. Archeron and Carmine were not born with those names. Drake know Archie's original name and it will come up.
re Eva Emaria: I feel like I should set up and RP forum or something for the Champion's creators. I'm going to add that to the list of site renovations. Joan probably drifted off at some point (she's had a tiring few days)but she's hardly well rested.
re Imola: I've been trying to use references for poses more often since I think the end result is better. I've been using references for things like furniture for a while now. Usually I use my own photos that I obsessively take on vacation. For the Victorian stuff I've been having to resort to stock photos. I ended up using some sort of reference for every panel on the page.
re man in black:indeed. Joan is taking anything she can at the moment.
re Mina_Lunga: Thank you. They're not terribly creative with their color scenes (except in a few rooms painted by people who wanted to be special little snow flakes). Expect lots of reds and blacks. The main thing I enjoy about vampires is their potential for ridiculousness and neuroses. There will be more (hopefully amusing) quirks forthcoming.
Arrikanez: No one really has any authority over you except the Healing Archetype. Because you play a helpful roll, rather than a potentially aggressive or damaging role, you're on fairly good standing with most political groups and champions (except elitists asses like Phoenix who don't particularly care is their underlings are healthy). Any polite requests from you would likely be filled quickly. That being said, it would be considered extremely rude of you to refuse any requests from them for healing assistance. (I'm enjoying the RPing a lot actually, and its helping me flesh out the champions a bit, as long as you/he feel up to it, feel free to continue. let me know if he feels like chatting with anyone in particular)
re Kadtie: I think you've got the get the chair angle just right. Otherwise it just slides around. She did not sleep well at all, rosary or no.
re doom Bubbles: Thank you ^_^ since nothing much happens I wanted to at least make it pretty.
...Oh, that might be dangerous. Give me a platform to play with Eira and I might have waaay too much fun. I'm all for RPing her, though. :D She's just so darn quiet, it's hard to get input out of her as far as questions and such are concerned, so I haven't done much with her in the comments.
It could be interesting to try playing her out with others, though handling all of the Guard could be a mess. But I've been curious about how her and Phoenix's interactions would go, so... Yes, ALL FOR this!
I'm having flashbacks to my senior capstone now... (I took Gothic Literature, we read ALL the vampire books basically.) The lighting on this page was interesting, I think because this is the first time we've seen Joan in artificial lighting in a while so it's playing tricks on my brain. But the contrast with the warmth of her skin and the grey of the vampires is really stunning!
Aylis: To be perfectly honest, I'd love to talk with Drake, but I'm thinking that will have to wait. You know, if there's a large gathering of the Champions... I might want to be in attendance. Most people in that "line of work" are... erm... not really... sociable? Fur could fly, if you get my drift... Speaking of which? Where is my "twin" Champion? Is he there?
