Sorry about the long hiatus guys. A combination of computer trouble and heavy class work knocked me out of the running for a bit, but I've used winter break to reassemble myself and build up a slight buffer, so I hope to start the year off with weekly updates again.
I've given all of the order members either classical or famous military names, but since they're a less formal field unit they use shortened versions. see if you can guess what the full names are.
Not so happy with the final panel, but it became a matter of "stop tinkering and just finish the page" after a while. If its unclear Drake's second knife wasn't fully formed and therefore soft enough for the saber to cut through and slice his arm.
re blackpickles: we''l have to see, in the mean time Drake's going to take a few down.
man in black: thanks ^_^
re Onasaki: some of them will have an opportunity to appear shortly, but for political reasons others would be unwelcome. Its going to be a while before there is any sort of big group meeting, but I'm going to insert them as often as possible given their popularity.
re Arrikanez: Tricksters tend to be very grey area deities, like they can help heroes get out of trouble, but they can also cause a great deal of trouble and misery just for the lols, so I wanted him to be fairly ominous while lending his helping hand.
re silverwingskywolf: Trickster is great fun to work with.
re Jae87: yeah, Joan's options really aren't that great.
re Eva Emaria: next time I sit down to do some site programming I'm going to find a way to fit all the maidens in. I've also got an opportunity for a group lunar appearance coming up in the comic.
re tygermon: Back on that now that I've got real life back in order again.
re OtakuNeko2499: There's a reason Trickster gods tend to be the most popular, they're just so fun. Loki's current popularity brings me great joy.
re Kadtie: as soon as I started drawing him I realized I needed to give him a bigger part in the story than I had originally planned.
re NaginiFay: he's not the most reassuring of individuals.
re Mina_Lunga: yeah, unfortunately for our trio they fit much better as antagonists than protagonists.
*coughs* Sorry, excuse my squeeing. Well, I did manage to get all of them sketched and am in the process of inking. I kinda got knocked on my butt between vacations and illnesses, and now I'm behind on grad work and *sighs* yeah. I set aside two hours tomorrow though! Maybe I can get the last ones done with the inking and start coloring...
Also, I disapprove of back sheaths/quivers, and this is why. I feel vindicated. And I think the last panel can totally work once we have the next page to see the real injury rather than random-red smear. Once I got told he was injured, my brain figured out EXACTLY what you were going for. So one of those cases where in context, it works fine.
That boy was doomed as soon as he decided to go sleeveless in winter. His mother always warned him: "Boy, you wear your coat or someone is going to cut your throat!" I second the Leonidas vote. And I like the evil-looking facial coloration on Drake.
