A quick look at our new baddies. I designed their armor to be similar to Teucer and his city troops', but be more practical for long periods out in the field. Its still made of layers of leather armor with a collar to protect the throat and the Order's insignia. They don't have the chain mail layer because its weight and tendency to rust is a serious problem when out in the elements. The armor isn't as uniform because the more veteran troops have adapted them to suit their individual needs over the years. The troops themselves are also a little more worn and scarred up because they see regular action along the border.
I'm sticking with the classical names for the Order, although some of them have been shortened in this more informal situation. If you're curious Leo:Leonidas, Alex:Alexander, Con: Constantine and Aug: Augustus.
I just finished my first week of classes and it looks like I'll be able to do 1 update a week. I've also UPDATED THE PROLOGUE, and added both the Champion Contest and winning champions to the Extras section.
re sarall: Thanks ^_^ Drake's new look was something I literally got the idea to do while drawing the page so I'm super relieved that people are reacting positively to it.
re Imola: No UFOs, but I kid you not, there is a Leprechaun museum a few blocks from my house.
re Onasaki: That was my original plan, but when I saw how the winning cast was shaping out I realized I wouldn't be able to do any of them justice in a bit group pic. Now that I've have a chance to practice drawing each of them I may try to tackle it, but I'm going to try and get back to a regular updating schedule first.
re Arrikanez: Oh Aylis, I think I know exactly who I'm going to have keeping an eye on you. And yeah, Drake is much more comfortable in a fight than in this leadership roll he's been having to take on. Even though the fight is likely to be a loosing one for them its at least something he understands.
re Kadtie: Thanks ^_^ Drake's costume change was a really last minute decision, and I really wanted to give Theodore a chance to show some personal confidence.
re AJL9324: There's a wide variety of vampire myths, and since Solifidians are influenced by these myths I've decided that there are different varieties (bloodlines) of vampires. Some do change completely (Buffy style) while others retain their basic human personality but with vampire traits and tendencies to either embrace or struggle with. Even these latter kind do change considerably because they've been put in a radically different and usually traumatic situation. Teddy is of the latter variety.
re dragonmaiden50: He had kinda a shitty deal growing up, and he's just starting to realize that he's actually quite powerful now.
I'm so glad that I found you again, Daidaishar! I had thought that your comic was lapsed since I was just looking at Drunk Duck. But since they went down I've come to Smack Jeeves, and now I have been able to read all sorts of wonderful pages! I'm glad that you've been continuing to slowly build on Teddy's character from timid to assertive, but keeping his basic angst-ridden self. And Drake's vicious back-biting snarl is delightful.
