The Earth champion is Kadtie's golem Grundy, just chilling and doing his gentle giant thing. I ended up having two "earth" champions because there's two very different earth archetypes that appear in mythology. We saw the "growing things" earth type with Meiyo on the last image and Grundy is championing the more rocky earth Gods. For clarity I'm going to be referring to them as "Nature" and "Stone." Sharp-eyed readers might notice "Poseidon" and "Neptune" in the mountains. I've included them into the Stone word cluster because they create earthquakes.
Air is being represented by Nallah's harpy. She should probably be a little smaller compared to Grundy to get their scales right, but I didn't want her too small in the picture.
I was going to have their human forms picnicking in the valley in front of them, but it made the picture look to crowded.
Despite their deities being so different these two get along well. Their personalities balance out well.
This concludes the elemental archetypes. The first pair of winning conceptual archetypes will be up next week and the next page of the comic will be up on Saturday.
re Eva Emaria: You shouldn't feel worried about it. Your champion is still your character, I'm just borrowing her from time to time. I always love when stories hint at the adventures that side characters are experiencing outside of what we see, so I'm actually super thrilled that you're running with it. I'm working on making an info page for all the champions when I'm finished with the contest and I would love to include as much extra stuff as you want. (Speaking of magnificent bastard tropes and Marvel, have you seen the recent stuff with Loki? Its glorious).
re Arrikanez: Thanks for the assist Eva. She's right. The Order knows they're unlikely to run into trouble so they've decided its an acceptable risk to pursue our trio into enemy territory.
re dragonmaiden50: eyup.
re Kadtie: I like the way you're thinking :) (and thanks again for Grundy!)
re Azhtann: poor misunderstood puppies. In Mina's defense, ruling vampires is like herding cats, crazy, murderous cats. She's decided to pick her battles.
If it's up on dA, safe to say I'm good with it going on her page. :D I'm horribly not picky, so it's all good. And yeah, one of my friends is picking on me to do the swan maidens during this time in some format, so we'll see if I ever get around to it... And no, sadly. XP I have no extra funds during the summer months, so I have no comic book money. It makes me sad...
I'm glad you split "earth" up that way, it makes the most sense. The bird nest on the golem amuses me, especially with the harpy right there...
