This should not have taken as long as it did I had the art finished long ago as a concept peice for phoenix and planned to use it for this page. all I had to do was add text, but then photoshop got realy weird and started making text dissapear, flip over, and leap off to the side of the page, and it only did this for this file. eventualy I copy and pasted this over another page and then added the text. my only explanation is that phoenix is doing it to spite me since it was the text next to him that always acted weird. That's ok, I hate him too. its strange, he's the only one of my characters that I truly hate. Even Kyle, who is the traditional hero-type that I despise I grew to adore, but no, despite my usual love for scheming bastards, phoenix gets no love.
A few of you may be like, "oh no, another effeminate anime guy," but pheonix is not actualy a guy 0_o...let me explain. I follow the wester version of the phoenix, and most of them say that there is only one. One bird=no sexual reproduction=no sex/gender. phoenix is an it (this, by the way, is not why I hate him, in fact it makes him easier to draw since I don't have to worry about making him look male of female). Phoenix does prefer to be called "he" as opposed to "it" and I'll use male pronouns for him to avoid confusion.
a note about skin colors. I realised after I finished coloring that both of these folks have dark skin. no racial commentary intended. I gave the fae black skin because I was moceling her off of a butterfly, which have black/dark bodies. Phoenix is dark/tan because phoenixes are assosiated with the sun, so that would make sense.
ummmm, anthing else. I used a slightly different method for this page. it started as a sketch, and I didn't ink it before scanning and coloring, but colored with transparent layers so some of the pencil markings show thorough. I won't make a habit of this since it takes longer, and did it mostly because I didn't want to risk goofing on the inking and messing up the picture.
Quote of the day:
Frisbeetarianism is the belief that when you die, your soul goes up on the roof and gets stuck.
ah, fae lady, ain't evil, she's the side that withdraws. It doesn't matter one way or another though. It was hard to get calirity about who I was talking about when, so its kinda vauge. next pages will be clearer, I promise
reJydra: she is the fae queen. I would hesitate to say that she is Titania specificaly since my knowledge of Titania is so limited. Historical and mythological innacuracies are my pet peve, so while a few are inevitable, I try to avoid stepping into areas I don't have enough knowledge of. she just kinda developed gradualy, without any model in mind.
reCerise:yeah, and his hair's already too orange as it is
reButterscotch: I'm glad you like her, I wanted to try something a little less traditional with her, and while butterfly wings have been done, I prefer them to "gossamer" wings (which are realy fly wings don'tcha know)
