le sigh, so much for speeding up updates. Been a crazy week, three of my students arrested (parole violation, smuggling mace into school, and showing off a gun on the bus,Jesus Christ children)
Joan decides not to do a runner after all.
At least Beau decides to be companionable and keep Joan company instead of standing like horses normally do.
Azhtann: thanks ^_^
re mistressoftheabyss: thanks, its helping me to keep going by having a nice, quiet thing I can do and get some appreciation from all you lovely folks.
re Kadtie: A lot of this goes way beyond dyslexia, and the behavior problems are even more worrying. Even if they can read they're never going to be able to function if they can't keep themselves from blowing up at every little thing.
re mogget: he's certainly going to try.
re Skittsue: we shall have to see.
re swshadowx: totally, Good Omens is one of my favorite books of all time, with tons of the Diskworld stuff close to my heart as well.
re steelCOYOTE: well, we could pretend he's a distant descendant, not through children since Drake kinda murdered his kid and wife, but maybe though cousins? yes, he can be George's great great great great... great cousin.
re flying-angel: ugh, we'll have to see if I can pull it off on the next one.
re Skarlog:i think my poor kids are more the product of the culture they're surrounded by. A lot of them are from families that have been like this for a few generations now.
re Onasaki: They're both very similar types. Teucer is supposed to have a slightly longer, thinner face but I'm still working on getting my faces consistent.
@ Skittsue--No. Horses sleep lying down, it's just that they can sleep standing up. They usually sleep standing up in the wild because if a predator were to come by or the dominant horse were to suddenly say 'hey, we're leaving now!' they would save time getting up. If you can walk up to a horse while it's lying down that means the horse really trusts you because they are vulnerable while lying down. (My parents have four horses on our farm and I am able to walk up to mine while he's lying down and sit on his back with him not getting up ^_^)
It takes trust for a horse to lay down while sleeping. Joan must not be TOO terrible a person. Deep inside. Either that, or the horse is a bad judge of character. Or he's got bad feet and had to lay down for a bit. My bet is the bad feet.
