Joan's got a new outfit and haircut...and some Stockholm syndrome? Poor girl.

My life is finally starting to calm down a bit I think. I had one last dose of insanity last week. The Recovery School District (in charge of most of the failing schools in New Orleans) pulled some bureaucratic shit and didn't let the brand new charter I work for into our building until one week before the students arrived. Sooooooo not enough time, especially because I had to do a whole hell of a lot more than put up a few posters. I had to knock out a whole f*cking wall, repaint the room, and then finally make my posters. i had to work 10-11 hours a day for the last 8 days straight to get it ready in time. F*ck the RSD and their bureaucratic bullshit getting in the way of me teaching my kids.

replies:

Jinny: pretty hectic, but hey, that's how it goes.

re pfmoi: eh, he did kill children during his vengence spree, that's a lot of bad karma to offset.

re Azhtann: she does, but she doesn't think she should

re steelCOYOTE: the in-world reasoning is that Drake uses his tail as a whip like weapon, if it had human skin it would get injured in fights. He has enough shapeshifting control to leave the scales on. The meta reasoning is that is it were skin it would look like a rat tail and that would be hideous.

re Omnom: ha! that is neat, I totally didn't notice that.

re Imola: it depends a great deal on what gods you're talking about. a lot of older religions regained popularity, and the Fire and trickster fellows we met are a special variety.

re Kadtie: dragons are like elephants, they never forget.

re Skittsue: he wouldn't be a proper dragon without a temper.

Oooh! I like her new haircut! 8D

I like her new clothes--they are very posh. Also, her angst amuses me far more than it should, considering her situation. She does seem to have just a bit of Stockholm syndrome, but if she kicks him and runs, she won't get to experience all the adventures. Oh, what's a girl to do? XD BTW, I think it's really freaking cool that you respond to reader comments--it really makes me want to comment MORE, even if I don't exactly have the wittiest comments in the world. ^_^

Ah, a girl and her warhorse.
Bureaucratic bullshit -- don't let it stop you from teaching. I hope everything turns out.

I like how she's holding the tiny scissors like she's holding a sword, ready to defend herself and the others. Or maybe just hack off her headfur. I still think Drake's locks are way awesomer, and until Joan learns to sport the "cool dragon" do, she'll never be as awesome.

All of LA's school districts stink (except the private ones). I guess "you get what you pay for" is true even with the education system.

Still, the kids need all the teachers that care that they can get.

Suffering from Stockholm syndrome because of her dragon kidnapper, and complaining about it to a horse... when I try to explain this to my sister, it just doesn't seem to make sense... but it DOES make sense...

She's kinda like me. Feel bad even when you're doing something against your will.

Her new hair makes her look bad ass some how. XD I'm curious to see how long it is exactly.

If only I had a horse to rant my frustrations to...

Skittsue, August 16th, 2011, 2:44 pm

Joan's not going crazy. No, no, she's just talking to a horse in the stable, asking for his opinion. :D
