You know, there are ways to continue a relationship in secret, and that breakup could have been used as a rather nice smoke screen if done right.
Pity it never occurred to them though... or if it did that they didn't act on it.
Though that said, what the fuck are those groups of idiots complaining about? if you're leader is getting laid on a regular basis then odds are good that they're less likely to snap and bite someone's head off! Given the races involved, these two could do that literally instead of metaphorically.
Welp, I called it on the "not liking halfies" part, but was wrong about everything else. Whoops. I keep forgetting Drake is really powerful, but purely by dint of being one of the last dragons left.
But I wonder if "Mina thinks" Drake's position is tied to his honor mean it's really not, if Drake just agreed to the breakup for her sake and not because he gave a damn about being on the council.
If his position on the council really DID matter to him, then it sort of begs the question of why. Drake doesn't seem fond of being a leader, but maybe he's just annoyed by our other main characters. Questions, questions...
@daidaishar: The book is called The Stepsister Scheme and is part of a trilogy. THe next two books after it are The Mermaid's Madness and Red Hood's Revenge. I don't PARTICULARLY recommend the series, but a friend got me into it because it features a POC lesbian. I was disappointed with the POC lesbian, but the world-building's not bad.
@pfmoi The first book isn't that bad, it's the rest of them that sort of fall apart, mostly because Red Hood's Revenge...doesn't live up to the summary and goes off in a crazy-ass tangent. I didn't even bother with the other book as a result.
Squeee, Phoenix! And elf-boy is back, is that Romulus or one of those traditionalists? Hmmm, interesting interesting... And I love hwo there's a lot of assumptions going on with Mina's side of things, but she still had enough of a point that Drake agreed with her.
I wonder if Sierra will make an appearance, but I guess that depends on if her patron wills it. Unless Fate is associated with a particular season in a way I'm unaware of. Or if she gets invited because people are hoping to get her on their side. Sadly, her patron doesn't take bribes. Or does she?
