So, vampire organizational stuff: Mythologicaly speaking, relationships between sires and their offspring are usually pretty toxic. To try an limit this in Mina's kingdom, turning humans into vampires is strictly controlled. Candidates and their potential sires have to go though the approval process. Candidates are tested to see if they have the mental fortitude to cope with being undead, and potential sires are assessed to make sure they're not going to be abusive assholes. Controlling fledgling creation also keeps the population in check (and hinders any potential rivals from attracting followers). However, every year there are several fledglings created outside of this process, either due to accidents or by vampires that are not Mina's subjects (like Teddy). These are usually separated from their sire (often violently) but still need supervision, so they are assigned a mentor.
Drake is pleased about Teddy being assigned to Archie not only because he trusts Archie, but because its politically a big deal. Mina hasn't "adopted" any fledglings (although she keeps an eye on and helps all of them), and Archie is the only person she has turned. Archeron is not only quite powerful in his own right, but also her heir (and the relationship is maternal rather than romantic). Teddy has essentially been adopted into the ruling family. Drake vouching for him is something Mina takes very seriously. She is also assigning him a mentor as different from his sire as possible.
Archie is less than pleased because being in charge of a fledgling is often like being responsible for a baby. An unstable, murderous baby.
On another note, some of you guys might be interested in this site: http://www1.flightrising.com/ its like Neopets but with dragons. A fun little time waster. There's a registration window open right now, so you might want to take a look. I'm daidaishar over there too.
re Jae87: its amazing how many things can go wrong in such little time while Drake is in charge.
re Arrikanez: Mina would probably respect Aylis from a distance (as long as he kept his). She started off as a psychiatrist, and does still care about protecting and taking care of people (she's just had to become more brutal to do so). No, her only issue with Aylis would be his inherent unicorn buny-ness, but as long as he's careful he will be fine.
re man in black: Things finally seem to be going ok for him.
re Mina_Lunga: I'm probably going to draw most of my vampires with pronounced cheekbones because of the whole "being dead thing," but Teddy does have some exceptionally prominent ones. Drake learned a long time ago that he's got to be a little more delicate than usual when dealing with Mina.
re Lusewing: Oh, Joan is super uncomfortable. Archeron on his own was ok, because he and Drake were all friendly, but Mina is not making any effort to put her at ease. Mina may have warmed up to Teddy, but she is still all kinds of not happy about Joan.
re Eva Emaria: Teddy is going to still need some time to adapt to Mina's more brutal moral code.
re Onasaki: Sometimes his height makes fitting everyone into the same panel a pain. Stupid lanky dork.
re pfmoi: Mina knows Drake would have thrown a tantrum is she didn't let Tedders in.
I am now picturing Drake just turning into an actual baby and crying and screaming and throwing toys around while Mina is stoically unimpressed and really annoyed. XDD I am also picturing Teddy as a cute pudgy baby with a big knife. It's really hilarious. XDD
Coup attempt. And there are birds (or rather, girls who turn into birds) in residence. I see what you did there... Though I did have a random thought. Would Drake even KNOW it's Eira who is there, or is he still expecting her predecessor, Kari? It's only been a couple years since her take over, after all...
And poor Teddy. He's taking it rather well so far, but yeah, it's a good thing he has Archie to look out for him. Even if Archie is being a reluctant new babysitter. XD Hey, now we have a median, a cursed dragon, and essentially a prince of a vampire kingdom!
